5 things to do in Zurich, Switzerland

Zurich is located in the north-central and is the largest city in Switzerland. Its most famous water is the Lake Zurich. It is located in the German part of Switzerland, so they speak Swiss-German there. It is mostly famous for being one of the world’s largest financial centers and a number of financial institutions are also situated there. But besides this financial aspect, this big city offers a lot more.

The Lake Zurich

I think one can not miss the Lake Zurich. It is located in the very center of Zurich and one of the cities landmark. Its water is very clean and during summer you can go swim into the lake, because temperatures will reach beyond 20°C. For a perfect view, go on the Bürkliterrasse (Bürkliterrace), from there you have a wonderful view over the Lake Zurich and on the Alps.

Wasserkirche & Grossmünster

The Wasserkirche (Water Church) is a church and the Grossmünster (great minster) is a Protestant church. Those two are located on a small island in the Limmat, which is a river in Zurich. Both of them are beautiful buildings and definitely worth to visit.

Rathaus

The Rathaus is the Town Hall of Zurich and was built in the 1960s. It is located on the Limmatquai and belongs to the medieval town. It is a very beautiful building, because at the top on the under part of the roof, there are a lot of golden stars on a blue background.

Paradeplatz

The Paradeplatz is a big square located at the Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich. It is a very busy tram station because more than 5 lines passes the Paradeplatz everyday. But besides this, it is one of the most expensive parts of the city and a synonym for financial and economic wealth. There are located a lot of banks, especially the Swiss banks UBS and Credit Suisse.

Niederdorf

The Niederdorf is a part of the Old Town of Zurich. It is mostly common for being the fun part of Zurich, because there are a lot of bars, cinemas and restaurants. But as it is a part of the Old Town, it is still very charming and reflects perfectly the medieval charm of Zurich.
