As you might know, reindeer are one of my favorite animals, so I was thrilled when I discovered that they also live in Scotland. These reindeer inhabit the Cairngorms National Park and are the only free-ranging herd of reindeer in the country. Since 1952, they’ve been living in the Cairngorms mountains, where the climate is perfect for them.
Who hasn’t heard of Nessie, the elusive creature that dwells beneath the still waters of Loch Ness, a legend whispered through the ages? From the moment I first heard her tale, I felt a pull to the misty shores of that ancient loch, to seek out the shadowy depths where the monster might be hiding, waiting to reveal herself.
As soon as I found out that you could climb an extinct volcano right in the heart of Edinburgh, I knew I had to make it to the summit of Arthur’s Seat. It’s the highest peak in a group of hills in Holyrood Park, located just east of the city centre, about 1.6 km from Edinburgh Castle. Arthur’s Seat is the dramatic remnant of a volcano that last erupted around 350 million years ago. Standing at 251 meters above sea level, it normally rewards you with an incredible panoramic view over the city and beyond.
Benagil Cave, located in the Algarve region of Portugal, is undoubtedly one of the most stunning and most visited natural landmarks in the area. If you’ve ever searched for things to do in the Algarve, chances are you’ve come across pictures of this iconic cave. It’s essentially a sea grotto with a large hole in the ceiling, known as „the eye“, which lets sunlight stream in and beautifully illuminates the cave from above.
